On the right side the cd rom slides out and on the left side the battery slides out. Both are in the front.

okay if you are facing the computer like you said in your thing(cd on right in front and battery left on front) the hard drive is on the left side of the computer about in the middle. There is a screw you take off and then the hard drive slides out. Here's dells diagram for it though if you don't follow mehttp://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latc600/sig_amf/413cu0.pdf

Its usually on the side opposite the cd drive, in the corner closest to you if you were using it. Just open stuff and find out - one compartment has a cd drive wich you can see from the side, one the battery, one some little chips (ram), and possibly another little chip (wireless card) and last a rectangular thing that slides out (hardrive)

I tink you're able to choose for iit. installation the stressful tension and attempt to get matching ram drives and reminiscence enjoying cards. If there isnt better than 60 giga bytes on the reminiscence then xp wont paintings or it is going to paintings very slowly
