My friend recently purchased an 06 pt for a good fuel mileage vehicle. He is extremely disapointed with it he has been averaging between 17 and 22 mpg and he drives mostly highway.I own a Chevy HHR and I get between 25 and 30 mpg doing the same type driving and I have a heavier foot.

Here are 2 web sites you can look at for Various Years of Cars including the Pt Cruiser and they are always dead on for fuel milage. **Be mindful 2008 have come out with some goofy estimates for 2008year+ cars from now on. But 2007 back is as standard.** In some cases if someones car is broken in proper & running tip top they do get beyond what most get.

In any case the 2.4L- 4 cyl with Auto Transmission gets somewhere around 21mpg city, & 26 highway in a manual ur mpg increase a bit clearly.

For a 4 banger and small and light weight, you would think the gas mileage would be great. But it is not. My 05 Chrysler T&C dose better and it's a lot bigger, can carry more people and cargo, and has a V6! I get 24.4 miles per gal. Loaded with all I can cram in it, with air on at 70 miles per hour. I know people with PT's that don't get that.

most of them are averaging between 16-22 maybe better,i know several people who own these and they all report different mileage its all in how you drive it and keep the maintenance up on it,some are saying 25 miles to the gallon, and i guess its possible, they are pretty good vehicles though.good luck with it.
