Healing comes in two stages: first, you have to let nature take its course in repairing the damaged tissue - stay off the leg as much as possible, keep movement to a minimum; second, you have to slowly and carefully build up the muscle again AFTER the healing is complete or almost complete. The time frame for each of these two stages will vary a little from person to person, but your doctor or physiotherapist would be the best source for this information.
