We clean his cage regularily. We have washed everything in there and even switched some of the toys for cleaner nicer-looking ones.
We decided it must be him. He poops a lot and everyone can smell him. Is there anything we can do about it?

i had a male mouse too once and he stunk like crazy! someone already answered you about the reason why your boy is so smelly... the best thing you could try to do ( besides doing regular cleanings of the cage and toys) is try and train him to use a litter box. I know it sounds crazy but I've gotten all my pet rats to do it and it's so much easier to clean. you can buy little corner trays from your local petstore and just put regular shavings in there with some of the old soiled shavings to get him started. make sure the rest of the cage is clean. everytime he goes to the bathroom remove it and put some of the shavings into the litter pan. (it's the urine that stinks so throw most of that out.) it'll take some time but in the end as soon as u smell something rank you can just lift the tray out and put fresh litter in there. believe it or not mice are pretty tidy little critters and would never choose to live in their own excrement. And he'll be much healthier too. You should also maybe change your litter choice from the popular cedar or pine to something recycled like paper or even aspen shavings because the aromatic oils in the pine and cedar shavings can give your mouse urinary tract infections making his life miserable. This goes for any pet that spends all they're time in shavings... anyways, I'm rambling.. Good LUCK!

I guess if it smells that bad it must be a male.. Next time you school gets a mouse for a oet have them get a girl.. The males give off a hormone that smells it is used to attract a mate believe it or not.. Use the regular bedding add some backing soda to it to hlep keep the smell down take 5 min and clean it daily ecspecially the we areas as the urine smells the worst.. smelss like musty..socks..get a good odor absorning bedding this should help as well. sometimes that yesterdays news works well with the baking soda.. I have had to take care of mice when my snake does not feel like eating so I totally get the smell factor..
