You need to show the equation exactly as it is written because where/how the parenthesis are placed matters.
e.g 3+5(7) has a different order of operations than (3+5)7
In the first case, 3+5(7) = 3 + 35 = 38.
In the second case, (3+5)7 = (8)7= 56.
The placement of parenthesis indicates the order of operations. Generally, you work from inside the parenthesis outward; perform the math inside the parenthesis then proceed to the other operations.
The PEMDAS tip mentioned earlier is a good one.

It depends on what the question is. If it is
3+5*7
By order of operation you do multiplication first
5*7=35
then you add the 3
3+35= 38
If the question is (3+5)*7
then you do what is in the parenthesis first
3+5=8
then you multiply
8*7=56
Use PEMDAS to help you remember order of operation

you do 5x7 first, which is 35, and then add three. so the answer is 38
remember you always have to do order of operations!
P- parenthesis
E- exponents
M- multiplication
D- division
A- addition
S- subtraction
a sentence you can remember it by is " please excuse my dear aunt sally."
ahh, i wish i still had homework like that : )
(well, actually it depends on how the problem is written. if there are ( ) around the 3+5, then the answer is obviously 56
