Putting Gagne on their postseason roster and not Julian Tavarez. And then being forced to turn to possibly their worst pitcher on the team last night (or this morning) and having him take the loss?

Should Tavarez be there instead

The play-offs are a heck of a lot different then the season you don't know who will be good or who will suck. they made a bad choice but who can blame them they probably got forced into putting eric in by either the owner or a contract clause.

Boston paid big bucks to get relief pitcher Eric Gagne to Beantown and let's face it he blew it, yet again, on Saturday night. Can the beaners battle back after losing home field advantage to the upstart tribe? They'll have to if they want a shot at a second World Series title in four years.

Tonight's game in Cleveland runs at 7 p.m. EST and sees Japanese odd-baller Daisuke "Dice-K" Matsuzaka (0-0) face Jake Westbrook (0-1). Neither pitcher has played all that well in the post season, with ERAs of 5.79 and 10.80 respectively.

Boston is favored to win (-123) despite the fact the Indians only lost 29 times at home all season. The Over/ Under sits at just 10 despite there being two inexperienced postseason pitchers on the mound and the fact that the teams combined for a whopping 32 runs in the first two games.

The last game at Jacobs Field was more like the apocalypse than a ball game, with a swarm of insects surround the stadium, rattling New York Yankees ace Joba Chamberlain, and laying the way for a come from behind Indians win in Game 2 of the ALDS.

Yes and No for different reasons...tavarez did very well for Boston this year.....nearly lights out(maybe)......so he should have been there....but also Gagne was the most dominant closer long ago...so maybe they were hoping he would get into that form in the postseason...which he hasnt mage the most of.....bottom line.....tavarez should be in ...gagne out
hope this helps

Well, historically, Gagne is the better pitcher. But Tavarez has done so much for the Sox this season (pitching in relief, starting, and actually giving them quality starts), that I think they should've given it to him. Plus, Gagne has done nothing but suck since he's been here, so I think they should've left him off. But he was brought to Boston to win, so they couldn't leave him off.

okay first of all of it is Buchholz. and he is HURT!!!!!!!! he stressed out his arm at the end of the year. Pretty much after his no hitter. And Gagne was the "greatest trade ever made" he was traded to keep him away from new york. after all is over it is like he is wearing a red sox uniform but he has the mindset he is playing for the opponent. Better off bringing up some high school kid instead of those 2.

Rockies will win it all

yea i also try to give him a chance you know i was like he'll come through but man this is too much he is just too bad i rather see tavarez or snyder in there. they should take him out of the roster now and bring some one else in and forget about him.

I have tried to give Gagne the benefit of the doubt, but WTF...

I can't stand Tavarez, but they would have been much better off with him pitching last night...

I was so pissed........

They should have never taken him out of that inning!! He was there best chance of getting out of the inning!! He is struggling but id rather have a former stud closer tha any of the puds they braught in after him. If you dont stick with your guys and show confidence in them they will continue to underperform. For example the Detroit Tigers, Jim Leyland said all year that Todd Jones is our closer. If u all dont know Jones blows balls!!! But he had almost 40 saves cause his manager stayed with him even when he blew consecutive saves. This is a very mental game and when you know your coach has no faith in you it does affect you!!

taverez is there. he's the team cheerleader... love that guy, he's completely nuts!

that was a good loss last night... they needed that... lester got his feet wet in the post season. Manny got his HR record!

Dice, Wake, Beck... get ready Beantown!

I think gange thinks too much, when he should be just doing.

Go PATS!
