unless it was very light rust that can be removed with a polish, i wouldn't.

You can reuse them but if the rust has any depth to it they will wear out in an extremely short period of time. Some cams are case hardened or carburized, which means they are only hard to about .010" below their surface. Once this outer hard layer is gone they wear out at an extraordinary rate. So, yes you can use them...No it is not recommended!

what sort of motor?? high performance 1100cc at 10,000 RPM them pits from the rust are going to wear the rockers/cam buckets really fast...
**** box 250cc honda.. who cares? LOL..
Of course if you had profile info... or allowed email so we could find out what you are trying to do.. we could give some constructive information...
so yes you can use rusty cams.. old oil.. & a rag as an air filter...
But I wouldnt..

it all depends on how long you want it to last, and how much money you want to spend. the right decision for a motor build or overhaul is new parts and you must also pay for a properly trained motorcycle technician, and/or service specialist in order to get any kind of warranty on the motor.
I guess the real question is???????? Where do you wanna be when your money is all gone?

Depends on how rusty they are. If its just light surface rust clean it off with a wire wheel.

Can they be re-polished?
Unless you've got roller lifters you're
looking at wear with any roughness on
that sliding surface.
