The typical American is so self-absorbed in the mini-melodrama of their own selfish life that they can't even be troubled to report crimes they see happening just outside their own windows, much less demand regime change from their government. Corporate management of the information stream means that most Americans never really become aware of anything above and beyond the endless torrent of persuasive images demanding that they shop, shop, shop. The average American can't even be bothered to pick up a newspaper once a week, much less to think deeply about the crisis our nation is currently experiencing.
In other words, most Americans only think what they have been indoctrinated to think by the media, so the world can go to hell in a handbasket, but no one in the U.S. will notice the calamity until it drowns out the din of price-slashing at Walmart.

In a sense we get the leaders we deserve. Americans have become as calculating and Machiavellian as the governments that now mirror them. They reason that impeachment proceedings would be costly and ultimately useless.
In my view, that's not the point. Even if all congress can do is condemn the president for his actions, they need to do it. Otherwise, we will be condoning those action and setting a precedent in which such actions are acceptable. I'm personally more worried about what these standards will mean for future administrations than punishing the appalling actions of this one. Will the next administration find it easier to lower the bar even further?
Of course, we can always hope for an idealistic and dedicated president that will work diligently to reverse what has been done, but I agree with you it is unthinkable to let this president finish his term without at least make it clear these actions are condemnable and stand against everything the United States were meant to represent.

Be careful you might get your wish for because as you may or may not know the records of Bill Clinton's impeachment were sealed and will not be opened in our life time. But if the Democrats try to impeach President Bush you can bet that he will find a way to have them made public and the Democrats do not want that to happen. Besides the Bush family and the Clinton family seem to be very close even though they disagree in public.

Oh don't worry, I've sent letters to my Senator's and Congressmen. Bill Maher said something like this, "I saw people camped out for 2 days to buy the new I-phone, but they won't get their keisters out there to march on Washington." Pretty amazing. But just look at all the Con's on YA. This country truly is divided. Unfortunately, there are still too many people who support this administration. But I definitely agree with you. Americans are too laxy dazy. Now...if Clinton was Bush, we ALL know he would have been removed from office.

One of the things the minds of Corporate America do to make the general public meek and docile is that they turn them into consumers and make them believe that they are nothing without the incessant consumption of junk that all the corporates produce/import. Since this administration is the most closely connected with the big businesses, I guess you can say they have a great help achieving their agenda

You're right on the money! Americans are very lazy people, on the whole. With our troops being killed everyday and fighting a useless war it is unacceptable to be silent. I ***** to my Senator everyday. I don't think he likes me anymore; in fact he's probably watching this post right now. Well no he isn't; politicians are too lazy too.

Are you so stupid that you dont realize that Americans can demand all they want. It doesnt mean that the people in charge are going to do what they want. Even if we could, why would we want to?

Impeachment on what charge?
You flaming liberals always forget that there has to be evidence of a crime before impeachment can be pursued.
But then again, I always forget that liberals don't need evidence they only require dislike or disdain.
And seriously, "chimpeachment", really is that the best you have? Name calling? How truly mature.
