When I was a kid, people in my place would close up the road at night, and play this game, although they were all grownups.
Would you still play this game with me? What are the rules? I forgot.

I forgot what patintero is. I am not too well-versed now with the Tagalog language(i only spoke it when i went to UST). I use more the Ilokano language while I am here. I wouldn't be able to tell you about the rules -
I would play it still as grown-up hehehe- it can't be any much more kiddish than going running around in the pouring rain in the backyard(sometimes even under pouring hails lol) one fine day during the summer.

I can always catch you in a dream within your dream. I have strong brain waves, mind you.

hi Kalibasa, I chanced in the time of this question the day gone by, and you will already had quite a few exciting, informative solutions, and that i did no longer think of that i ought to upload something new. yet i've got theory approximately your question for the reason that, and - nicely, i comprehend i'm pointing out the obtrusive right here, yet a great number of the phenomenon of the newborn prodigy is the "wow" ingredient - I advise, that is exceptionally stunning while a newborn can play violin or piano or habit an orchestra besides (technically) as an person. As for interpretative expertise, intensity of emotion, etc. - nicely, perhaps the objective industry is extremely prejudiced right here - they see a lovable little newborn in pigtails and ankle socks up there, enjoying a Mozart violin concerto, word-completely - yet of course, they're going to doubt the newborn's emotional integrity...forgetting, of course, that there are a number of person musicians who're stunning technicians, yet their pyrotechnics can distract the fewer-discerning listener from the obtrusive loss of emotion recent of their overall performance. you recognize, I reckon an exciting test could be to take six violinists - 5 executed adults (alongside with one older one that is infamous for "soul-much less" interpretations) and one newborn prodigy. Then get each and each violinist to record the Beethoven concerto (sound in hassle-free terms - no visuals) then see if any listeners can p.c.. the newborn's overall performance from the sound recording on my own... I actually have a droop that the end results of this "blind attempt" could be outstanding... Hafwen x

Those good old days....

When i was kid , me and my friends would also do that..close the street and put some lines on the grounds using either chalk or water from the kanal and we're ready to go..

There are two teams with several players..Before the game would start, the leader of both teams would do jack en poy (bato-batopik) to determine whose team would be the "taya".

The "taya" team will go to their proper places, (those with lines) and guard that line so that the other team won't be able to go inside.

While the other team will try to get in from line to line until they get to the other side..

That's what I remember...

O ano, tara??
and after we play Patintero, how about we also play "Shato"?..

Yes, aguadulce and I would play "patintero" with you as long as you're "taya".

Here are the rules:

Several horizontal lines and one long vertical line along the middle are drawn. The "taya" (you and your team) would guard the lines. We would try to cross the lines and return to our original position, without being tagged.

Last year in Dubai after a wonderful Iftar, I played this game with my colleagues. we were a motley crue of Indonesians, Filipinos, Indians, Syrians, Moroccans and Emiratis. We had a blast.

Some of the rules we made:
when someone has gone past you, you can't tag him anymore, it's the next bantay's turn.

all runners should run inside the boxes and should they step out of the line, it will be considered as tag so it's the bantays turn to be runners.

KID AT HEART RULES!

I can play patintero while playing SIPA at the same time. Do you dare to challenge me?

i haven't played that for a long time, but when i was a kid, kids and grown-ups played them together as a team, not adults vs adults, i think it's more fun, less serious.
