What do you know about it?
Do you know anyone who went there, and if you do, what did they study and what is their occupation now? Did they think it was worth it?

they sent me letters and I went to their admissions counselor today...and I didn't even know it was such a great school.

Cal Tech is one of the ten best universities in the country -- and one of the two best engineering/science schools in the world. Some people even put it ahead of MIT.
75% of those admitted have over 2200/2400 on their SATs and about 90% graduated in the top 10% of their HS classes.
I've been impressed with everyone I know who has gone there. They do spectatularly well after graduating.

If we're talking about the same school, then YES. It's a great school. My cousin went there and majored in engineering. It's very hard to get into. You MUST be in the top quarter of your class to get in. He loved it there. He's making a great salary now. He came from Massachusetts and loved the area also. If you really like science, physics especially, and take AP or Honors and do well, this school might be for you.

are you kidding? It ROCKS...it's like one of the best mathy/sciency/engineer schools around....
