First of all you need to keep in mind that as a new coach, he puts his system in place, and in this case Lamoriello supports it.
1) Brent Sutter doesn't believe in captains. He put it to a team vote where the top 3 vote getters would get the A's, and Elias, Gionta, and Zubrus were the players picks
2) The players got rid of Pandolfo and Madden as alternates, not Sutter.
3) It is the coaches job to determine who plays with who, and as a fan, you need to let him do that.
4) The players gave the A to Zubrus, not Sutter
5) Lamoriello is trying to trade Matvichuk, not Sutter. Matvichuk has performed poorly in Lamoriello's eyes
Personally, I think the Devils will be fine this year. They need to adapt to their coach and that should happen sooner rather than later.

At the begging of the season Sutter said the captions passions is up for grabs and he re assigned three A’s. (http://devils.nhl.com/team/app?articleid=338903&page=NewsPage&service=page) and one of the reasons that Gionta and Zubrus received A’s because the team wants to keep then just like Elias was offered the C if he stayed. madden and pandolfo will get a A again just give it time. I think that Elias or madden will get the C but my money is on Elias is he keeps scoring well and can lead more. Mattituck dose not like the new system and wants to be traded. All the lines are going threw changes to see who chicks in the new system they are trying to use. This is a rebuilding year and trying to get new young people into the team and remember that three key players are out. Sutter is trying to do the best he can but the team needs to step up as well but I don’t see sutter staying. And there only a few games into the season.

I enjoyed Johnny Mac as a participant, yet i can't question Lou's determination right here. Brent Sutter's youthful yet he's had success as a head coach interior the minors and ultimate Canada's under 21 squad. a distinctive face interior the locker room could be a plus too. I assume him to have assorted ability and the potential to fire this team up.

GMs move players. Coaches deal with what they've been given. Coaches have a say on the roster but if the two disagree the GM wins. After all he is the coach's boss.
The team is amess because they blew things last year and the year before in putting together a roster. For a while last year they were over the cap.
Sutter has a system and if the guys don't want to play it there's nothing he can do. To jump all over him after a few games is childish. It takes time for a new system to sink in so the players actually do their jobs.

They have to play the first month on the road. They will play better when they get some home games. I agree they are not what they were 5 years ago but Brent Sutter had to make the best with what he had. Lets talk in mid Dec and see where they are at. Peace. GO Sharks!

sutter's only responsible for so much. as far as captains and alternate captains, might stir a bit up in the locker room but they'll still play their typical jersey hockey and win lots of games. i honestly think the problem is lamourello (sp?) always firing coaches after good seasons right before the post season, thinkin he made a good move when he didnt. jersey just needs some consistency behind the bench and the cup is in their reach

I think Lamoriello ruined them last year. Remember when he had to beg and plead the other GMs to not have to count Alex Mogilny under the cap, even though he knew what he was getting when he signed him? Brodeur is really all that held the team together. I'm honestly surprised that it hasn't been broken up more, because if they just had an average goalie, they would be an awful team. Seriously, Marty is the man.

Yeah, i think that hes not doing very good as of the beginning, but i think he will get used to the way things are run in the Devils Organization, and if not then someone will talk to him, or he will get fired, but getting fired is a far cry for him..
But seriously? stripping Elias of captancy is STUPID.

I think Brent Sutter and Gary Bettman look eerily similar....

He's not doing any worse of a job than Bettman is as commissioner. Since that's the standard of performance in the league, why should you expect any better?
