Yes, I've had two so far in my lifetime. (Wow, I still remember them---box 433 and box 135)! It's really rather convenient, if you have transportation to the post office or live near to it because you can pretty much assured that if you go there at noon your mail will have already been put there. (Having a box out in the country, I get my mail early one day and almost 5pm another---it's frustrating.)
I believe last time I had a box, it was like $32 for six months. That was a long time ago---about 1985. Of course, you can get them in different sizes.

Yes, depending on the size of the mail box. I don't know now what the cost is nowadays. It's not that expensive, like 35 bucks for a year or something.

Yes, you pay to rent a box, and the fee depends on the size of the box you want & what city you live in. There are also different ways you can pay...every month, I believe, and every 6 months & yearly. But you would have to go to your local post office & check to make sure.

I depends. If you are so far out that there is no street delivery then you qualify for a free PO box. If you have street delivery then you can rent a Postal PO box for six months or a year at a time.
You can go to a private PO box like from a UPS store or just private boxes. They are much more expensive.

Actually, it does.
You would have to call your local Post Office for their rates.
The rates vary from Post Office to Post Office.
Also there were 4 sizes of PO boxes at the PO I worked in
rates varied from $24 for 6 months to $250 for 6 months..
I would suggest the #2 size one, so your magazines won't
get torn or ripped. The small size is just too small for todays
magazines and free samples.
Your mail is safe and secure at the PO.
