I sleep with a pillow between my legs. I wake up about every hour with a lot of pain on the leg that is on the bottom, so I turn over and try to sleep on the other side. The pain is below the knee in that muscle on the back of the leg. My circulation is fine, the leg isn't asleep or anything.

The left leg hurts a lot more than my right. Sometimes when I go to sleep on my right side, (having not laid on the left side in hours) my left leg still hurts. What on earth could be causing this? It is nothing like a charlie horse...

Sounds like baby is putting pressure on the nerve that runs down your legs (sorry - i've completely forgotten what its called) which is causing the pain in your legs - i had this during my pregnancy - it was horrible! Unfortunately nothing could be done about it - eventually my baby moved off the nerve and the pain went away!

Sorry i couldn't give you a solution - like many things in pregnancy i just had to grin and bear it... fortunately my daughter is 5.5months old now and the pain and discomfit was well worth it.

Good luck to you,

I'm 32 weeks and only 4'11" and I keep hearing it is normal to feel that way! I too am in a lot of pain myself, but mine is more so pressure and sharp pains, and even sometimes "period like cramps" in my lower back! I have been having braxton hicks also for the past 5 wks or so. My doctor says he wants to have a c-section at 37 or 38 weeks cause my baby is already measuring so big and since I'm so small. But active is good... if you have time periods where you dont feel your little one for 3 or more hours, call your dr... other then that it's just the joys of pregnancy ;-)

Possibly, you are putting pressure on a major nerve in your hip area. This nerve runs down the entirety of your leg causing you pain when you lay on your side. Talk to your doctor about it or trying taking a mild sedative like tylanol PM.

the baby presses on a lot of nerves in there and with me it was my left thigh that kept going numb. if you are worried ask your doctor about it. but it is pretty common.
