I am a 26yr old single mother that wants to go to college. My only problem is that I want to take online classes from a college in another state. I currently live in Ms and I was planning on relocating in a couple of years somwwhere else. Is it possible to register for classes in another state for online classes, without actually living there. I wasn't interested in other online colleges like Phoenix and such. I have heard alot of bad stories about that. Please help...

Yes, you can definitely register for an online program in another state. Many of the students of these programs are, in fact, in other countries. You just need to be sure that the program is a complete online program, and not some kind of a combined distance learning program which requires you to be on-site at regular times.

EU thinks she's smarter than the deans at Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Umass, UFlorida, Johns Hopkins, etc... they think the classes that they teach online are good classes. They think online education is valid and viable but No_hate disagrees with those PhD's - what do they know anyway. Some people just haven't noticed that it's 2007. "take classes at the local community college instead of Harvard online..." now that's funny.

Yes, you can register at a school out of state. Some of the state schools don't charge out of state tuition to their online students.

Look at schools with solid reputation (such as those I mentioned above) and take classes at the best college you can. Avoid the low reputation colleges if you can.

If you can afford it, and they will have you, Harvard University courses online are absolutely outstanding. UMass online is pretty good too.

There is an accredited online college out there. I think it is just a program branched off of a real university, but either way it is definitely accredited and your credits can transfer. Also, some colleges have online class programs such as one near me, UNCG, where you dont have to actually ever go to the campus, you can apply online, pay online, and take classes online.

I go to Florida Gulf Coast University. It is located here in Southwest Florida but it offers online classes. Whenever I take an online class I always meet people who are living in other states. I suggest you go to the website www.fgcu.edu and take a look. See if they have any online majors that you would be interested in. I personally am doing the Legal Studies Major and it is offered completely online.

I don't know why they would object. The purpose of online is to expand the classroom so that a wider group of students can sign up.

Send you registration. I doubt they will turn you down. It is to their advantage to take you as a student. So go for it. What an they do?
Good luck hang in there

Do not take online classes. It is a waste on money, you will never learn anything. Take classes at the local community college instead.
