1] The best way to keep warm in winter is layers.
Wear a top in a bright, with pants or jeans, and a jaclet/sweater/hoodie over it that matches the top or the pants. Wear whatever fabric works for you - I wear cotton, rayon, everything but wool [ I'm allergic ].
2] wear a hat - there are some great ones out there - wear a knit cap if simple and traditional; a warm men's wool fedora; a hood scarf if you have a special hairdo; or one of those crazy ski hats. Wear or carry gloves/mittens too.
3] wear shoes and socks that are warm enough to walk a mile in the snow. You could always change when you get to school.
4] keep a knit hat and gloves in the glovebox of your car [ in case you have to walk ], and a blanket in case you get stuck somewhere.

i positioned on denims with shoes and because its gettng chilly out for fall i positioned on long sleeve shirts with a zipper up vest regularly throw in some jewlery liek pearl bracelts some jewelry and splash on some god smelling fragrance =)

fleece sweatshirts, wool sweaters
puffer jackets and scarves if it gets real cold
and for shoes
definitely have Uggs
