What is the life span of the Japanese Mayten tree?

I planted one 27 years ago and the past couple of years it is showing signs of impending death. Has it run its course? Does anyone else have one in their yard?

I've never had any luck with the Japanese varieties. The trees in my yard are no older than 25 years old and I have seen some that are on the decline. Have you tried posting your question in the home and garden category? You may get a better response.
