You didn't mention what type of RV you'll be traveling in. We travel in a 36' diesel motorhome and belong to the following organizations:
1. The Family Motor Coach Association http://www.fmca.com/
2. The Good Sam RV Club http://www.goodsamclub.com/
3. Passport America http://www.passportamerica.com/

These are all self-explanitory when you visit their sites. You will want a discount camping club to help on expenses. FMCA is for motorhomes only, while Good Sam takes all RVer's. Passport gives you a straight 50% off at many campgrounds. There are other discount clubs around, stay clear of campground memberships unless you plan on fulltiming for many years.

We circumnavigated the US in 2003, starting in Florida, traveling North to Maine, West to Washington, South to California and returning to Florida 6 months later. We traveled 13,600 miles and visited 45 states and 3 Canadian Providences.

Last year we traveled to Alaska and back to Florida, covering 16,000 miles in 6 months. We stayed in Florida this year, but will return to Alaska in 2008.

Visit my Blog on Yahoo 360 for photos and stories on our adventures. E-mail me for any more questions you may have.

Involve your kids in your traveling plans, at least in what you may visit while traveling.

We have seen, in Oregon, Crater Lake, the Lava fields and the Columbia River. South Dakota brought Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Mitchell and the Corn Palace, along with Harney Peak the tallest mountain East of the Rockies. We have seen Niagra Falls, Cape Cod, Plymouth Rock, Old Iron Sides and Bunker Hill. We walked where the Minutemen fought during our war of independance.

We have a wonderful country with many sites to see. While traveling, stop at every states welcome center and pick-up state maps and items of interest. Visit states museums, they are full of history.

Good luck and welcome to the world of RVing.

Our associates have been given a loose meal plan while they booked final year. to save money (particularly with 4 young ones) evaluate the "fee hotels'. We discovered that staying on the premises improve into perfect. the floor transportation improve into remarkable. The meal plan is slightly an extravagence, besides the shown fact that it actual made issues extra handy. wonderful nutrition and eating. Reservations could be made ahead for the nicer eating places. Our Disneyworld holiday improve into between the main suitable trip trips we've ever had! maximum exceptionally, the service at Disneyworld surpassed our expectancies very almost every time. wish this enables slightly...verify the internet web page and have a great time!

Las Vegas, NV...it's actually really fun for kids--I always LOVED it when I was little!
Malibu, CA--Zuma Beach, and in Santa Monica (right next to Malibu) go to the Santa Monica Boardwalk
New York, NY--Spend a week here. Go to Times Square and see a play (the Lion King is amazing for every age, and surprisingly enough, Legally Blonde is supposed to be good.) Go to the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island for a more educational thing. Walk around 5th/Madison Avenue and go into the big department stores (Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks.) If it's winter, go see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center (and go ice skating there too!) Also go to Central Park--there's TONS to do--and the Central Park Zoo.
--Camden, Maine. Beautiful! Not during winter, though--way too cold.

Have fun!!!
