Avril lavigne isn't an actress

Mine is Edward Norton if i had to choose, I really respect his ability to hold a good character no matter how hard it is. He's very focused and under rated, it helps he is beautiful too, but he's very smart and i love the choices of movies he picks, he can pull off alot of roles very well and lights up the screen when he's on it.

Or Leonardo DiCaprio because he can pull off anyone as well. I guess maybe because i really like who he is as a person, caring for the environment and trying to help the world with global warming, but he's amazing at his job, and seems like a really down to earth guy even though he's really REALLLY well known, plus he is veryy cute!

I've been a film fan for more than half a century, so I know what I'm talking about when I select the ones I do. I love Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, and many classic actors, but I am so amazed by the films this man has racked up, and he's in his early 40s, with many moviemaking years ahead:
JOHNNY DEPP
Yes, I am that impressed with this man who combines a vesatility in selecting and portraying roles, a way to add his own quirks to those roles so that you can't imagine another person in the part, athleticism, and~yes~masculine beauty. I can picture Johnny Depp tackling roles made famous by Douglas Fairbanks (Jr. & Sr.), Errol Flynn and others. Beyond being a leading man, he skillfully has played supporting roles and even a murderer. All of this is from a youth who planned to be in a rock 'n' roll band~not to be an actor.

Again, I could name dozens of old-time actresses, such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, and Meryl Streep.
UMA THURMAN
From Venus in "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" to singing and dancing in "The Producers", this actress has been full of surprises. Like the classic actresses, she can alter her appearance a great deal without relying on prosthetics. Her career has covered an amazing array of roles, including Mrs. Peel of "The Avengers", a damsel in distress, comedic roles and dramatic ones, then she stuns us by singing and dancing. I'd love to see her and Matthew Broderick placed in another musical!

While I'm here, I'm going to list other favorites so you'll know I'm not some young whippersnapper selecting anyone randomly. My favorite actors include Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Paul Muni, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Fredric March, James Dean, James Mason, Robert Redford, Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Walter Pidgeon, William Daniels, Gary Cooper, Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck, Claude Rains, Charles Bronson, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Edward G. Robinson, Boris Karloff, John Garfield, Harrison Ford, William Powell, Alan Rickman, Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach, Yul Brynner, Mel Gibson, Gene Kelly, Howard Keel, Russ Tamblyn, Bruce Willis, S.Z. Sakall, Ron Perlman, Strother Martin, Clint Eastwood and many more.

Favorite actresses include the ones I mentioned before, as well as Vivien Leigh, Myrna Loy, Audrey Hepburn, Eve Arden, Shirley Jones, Jean Simmons, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Novak, Cate Blanchett, Deborah Kerr, Maureen O'Hara, Thelma Ritter, Diane Wiest, Michelle Pfeiffer, Charlize Theron, Goldie Hawn, Genevieve Bujold, Faye Dunaway, Julie Newmar, Susan Hayward, Ruth Gordon, Sigourney Weaver, Ellen Burstyn, Leslie Caron, Sophia Loren, Kathleen Turner, Winona Ryder, Demi Moore and more.

Actually, her name is Ann-Margret, which often is misspelled, and you're right: She IS a good actress/performer, especially in "Tommy".

As for Dianne Wiest: How can she be underrated if she was nominated for three Oscars and won two?! She's been noticed since she appeared on the scene actually. It didn't take long for Woody Allen to add her to his select group. Here's her chart of nominations and wins:

My first look at her was "Independence Day" (1983), in which she stole the show as the woman who blew up her house~along with herself and her abusive husband.

Cary Grant (Okay this one is partly because of his looks, the man was hot! But he was also a great actor. My Favorite Wife, Charade, An Affair To Remember...)
James Stewart (Harvey, It's A Wonderful Life, Rear Window...)
Tom Hanks (Big and Splash were two of my favorite movies as a kid and then The Green Mile and Castaway when I was older)
John Travolta (Grease and Look Who's Talking when I was a kid, Get Shorty and Basic when I was older)
Tom Cruise (weird in real life but I love Minority Report, The Last Samurai, War Of The Worlds...)
Bruce Willis (I'm a huge Die Hard fan! He was also great in Sin City)
Dwayne Johnson (He's also partly because of his looks but it really surprised me how well he acts and I've enjoyed all of his movies)

I didn't notice it also says actress. Most of my favorite actresses are from Korean romantic comedies/melodramas. Like Kim Ah-jung and Jun Ji-hyun

I'd have to say Jimmy Stewart was my favorite actor. I havent found anyone to replace him since he died. He was so kind to me when we met at the airport. I sent him a fan letter later and he sent a reply which is very unsuual. He could play in comedy or drama and do a good job with both.
My favorite actress is Ann Margaret because she also has done a variety of work over the years. She's undergone a lot of tragedy in her life, but she's never too tired to sign autographs and have pictures taken with her fans. The new people coming up could learn a lot from both of them.

There are soooo many. I would say that Diane Wiest is one of the best underreated actresses. Ummm... lets see Shohreh Aghdashloo because shes very talented, Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, Susan Surandon, Whoopi Goldberg,Joanne Woodard, Loretta Young, Dihann Carroll, Angela Bassette & Sally Field just to name a few. Also Laurie Metcalf ( played Jackie on Roseanne). I think she is underrated to. My favorite actor is John Goodman because he is really talented but he doesn't crve attention. money or fame. You know it comes from his heart. I know I'm forgetting tons of people but those are some of my favs.

Tom Hanks, he can play a perfect role in absolutely any movie. Plus he can play a wide range of genres like him in Saving Private Ryan and him in Big. I just really love Tom Hanks, I think he's an outstanding actor. Especially in Castaway, most of the movie was just him.

Robin Williams. He has played a gay man in "The Birdcage", a woman in "Mrs. Doubtfire", is off-the-wall funny in "Good Morning Vietnam", can do inprov as seen on "who's Line is it Anyway?" He is the actors version of a "Man of all trades".
