I've been a film fan for more than half a century, so I know what I'm talking about when I select the ones I do. I love Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, and many classic actors, but I am so amazed by the films this man has racked up, and he's in his early 40s, with many moviemaking years ahead:
JOHNNY DEPP
Yes, I am that impressed with this man who combines a vesatility in selecting and portraying roles, a way to add his own quirks to those roles so that you can't imagine another person in the part, athleticism, and~yes~masculine beauty. I can picture Johnny Depp tackling roles made famous by Douglas Fairbanks (Jr. & Sr.), Errol Flynn and others. Beyond being a leading man, he skillfully has played supporting roles and even a murderer. All of this is from a youth who planned to be in a rock 'n' roll band~not to be an actor.
Again, I could name dozens of old-time actresses, such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn, and Meryl Streep.
UMA THURMAN
From Venus in "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" to singing and dancing in "The Producers", this actress has been full of surprises. Like the classic actresses, she can alter her appearance a great deal without relying on prosthetics. Her career has covered an amazing array of roles, including Mrs. Peel of "The Avengers", a damsel in distress, comedic roles and dramatic ones, then she stuns us by singing and dancing. I'd love to see her and Matthew Broderick placed in another musical!
While I'm here, I'm going to list other favorites so you'll know I'm not some young whippersnapper selecting anyone randomly. My favorite actors include Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Paul Muni, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Fredric March, James Dean, James Mason, Robert Redford, Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Walter Pidgeon, William Daniels, Gary Cooper, Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Marlon Brando, Gregory Peck, Claude Rains, Charles Bronson, Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Edward G. Robinson, Boris Karloff, John Garfield, Harrison Ford, William Powell, Alan Rickman, Montgomery Clift, Eli Wallach, Yul Brynner, Mel Gibson, Gene Kelly, Howard Keel, Russ Tamblyn, Bruce Willis, S.Z. Sakall, Ron Perlman, Strother Martin, Clint Eastwood and many more.
Favorite actresses include the ones I mentioned before, as well as Vivien Leigh, Myrna Loy, Audrey Hepburn, Eve Arden, Shirley Jones, Jean Simmons, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Novak, Cate Blanchett, Deborah Kerr, Maureen O'Hara, Thelma Ritter, Diane Wiest, Michelle Pfeiffer, Charlize Theron, Goldie Hawn, Genevieve Bujold, Faye Dunaway, Julie Newmar, Susan Hayward, Ruth Gordon, Sigourney Weaver, Ellen Burstyn, Leslie Caron, Sophia Loren, Kathleen Turner, Winona Ryder, Demi Moore and more.
Actually, her name is Ann-Margret, which often is misspelled, and you're right: She IS a good actress/performer, especially in "Tommy".
As for Dianne Wiest: How can she be underrated if she was nominated for three Oscars and won two?! She's been noticed since she appeared on the scene actually. It didn't take long for Woody Allen to add her to his select group. Here's her chart of nominations and wins:

My first look at her was "Independence Day" (1983), in which she stole the show as the woman who blew up her house~along with herself and her abusive husband.
