You're lucky to not get them at all. Especially if you have caller ID, because I don't. Do you like to annoy them? I just like to pick up the phone, listen and say nothing, and then hang up in a few minutes to mess with them =P

Thanks Viktor. Great advice. Next time I pick up, I'm speaking German. I need to work on my dialog anyways.

I get them a lot, but I have caller ID. Although sometimes I pick up the phone and speak a different language. Like German, Norwegian, Dutch, French, anything to piss them off.

When I stay home from work because I'm sick the phone would start ringing at 8:30 am when I was trying to sleep. Every fifteen minute it would ring. Always sales calls. So I learned to call into work sick, unplug the reciever and let the cord dangle until I woke up again. Or felt better.

Now in the evenings I'm getting political calls from candidates or surveys. Sometimes I take the time to take a survey but usually they're annoying. Oh, and donation calls for various local charities are starting for the holidays already.

I get telemarketing calls in Spanish.
I don't know why, maybe the person who had the phone number before me was Hispanic, but I can't speak Spanish, and when I say this to the the spanish telemarketer, they say, "No hablo englais" and hang up on me.

And the next day, they're calling again.

I don't get very many. But I do get some during the weekday, where there is a message left on my answering machine. Well, anyway, HALF a message.

I find it kind of funny, because when my machine starts recording, the last 5 have been in the middle of the message saying "..... is the last notice we will be giving you for this offer!" At that point I delete.

Since I registered on the National Do Not Call List I only get maybe one or two a month. I don't mess with the ones that call though. I just tell them to take me off their list and hang up.

I have switched to a cell phone so never! When I had a land line, I used to love to play with telemarketers (They are fair game!). I'd pretend to be a very interested but slow on the uptake kind of senior citizen, and would make them explain something over and over. After keeping them on the line for some time I would say: I'm very interested but I have to talk it over with the wife, give me your home number and I'll call you tomorrow at dinnertime. Then I'd hang up and laugh myself silly! Ah, good times, good times.

Oh, we get tons every day...TONS.

However, we have a seperate phone line in our house that we use ONLY for bill collectors and telemarketers--the other line we actually give to important people. So we just shut off the other phone and don't worry about them!

But when one DOES call our actual phone line, I just try and sell them something myself...it's quite amusing, and I nearly succeeded once!

Since I got myself on the National Do Not Call List it's mostly stopped except for political bullpoop.
I used to mess with them though. They'd always ask for Mrs.______ and I say "that's my mother". Then they'd ask to speak to her and I'd say "no, she's dead" and hang up.
Childish, immature and stupid - but somehow still satisfying.

I have caller ID, and when I can tell that it is a tellemarketer, I usually make up a freaky voice until they get really freaked out!

i also just registered at https://www.donotcall.gov/ the national do not call registry. it's only for 5 years but that is better than nothing.
