Decorate with colours that are associated with the season for one. You can never go wrong with red, green, silver, gold, white and all the different tinsels.
Hang tinsel from the ceiling or near doorways. Have a wreath on your front door. Remember that lights can be used both indoor and outdoor.
Have a few snow globes placed around the house, maybe even start a small Christmas village.
Have baked goods or trays filled with Christmas goodies.
Of course you also need a Christmas tree. Either place your favorite decorations on the tree, or go with some kind of theme, like something you would see in a magazine where all the ornaments are the same colours.
Bows and ribbons are also a nice and cheap way to make things look nicer.
Set up a Nativity scene.
Have Christmas music gently play in the background.

its easy to achieve at my home becuase we have an apartment and I do the whole thing for Christmas. we put up the tree, I even decorate our fake tree we have out year round, I go to the dollar store and I get stuff like christmas placemats and napkin holders and plates and cups. I also get christmas mats for the coffee table and end tables, christmas candles...whatever I can find and I decorate with all that stuff. you cant help but walk in and feel Christmas. your best bet is to wait till the dollar stores fill with christmas stuff and get a bunch of things there. sometimes just burning christmas scented candles makes it fee; festive to me.
