Just because someone knows how to speak proper English or prefers rock music to rap? Come on, people! Get over it! Stop the madness!

What do you think has to happen in our society for (some) blacks to let go of this opinion?

I'm not being petty. This is something that actually affects a lot of people, particularly during adolescence when it's so hard to find oneself and fit in. Rudeness is uncalled for.

Lina H: I was referring to this sentence. "I don't sound 'black' cause they sound ghetto according to you." I never said that and if I implied it I didn't mean to. I understand everything else that you're saying, though. I didn't fit in either for similar reasons. Thank god I'm older now and some things matter less...

Very interesting! An example would be Jesse Jackson 'accusing' Senator Obama of 'acting white' lol. What a shameful and pathetic thing to say on national TV.

What came first the chicken or the egg?

It's a catch 22. Black people will stop the "uncle Tom" mind-set when the underclass becomes educated. However, the underclass will never become educated until they stop being so "anti-society." Bill Cosby among other black leaders have tried to bring up this point and have experienced such a backlash that they haven't tried again.

Popular Rappers do not help this one bit, they profit off of building a culture around violence, the street and anti-society.

"Civil Rights Leaders" profit off of this, because without the image of the poor, down-trodden black underclass they are out of a job.

don't get caught up in no count if hip hop is black or white. Who began it, who owned the music companies shouldn't count. Black history is all approximately equality, so blacks could enable total hip hop component circulate, and white human beings could supply up attempting to maintain shop antagonizing blacks because of the fact they're attempting to hold directly to a evaluate their subculture that they sense is slipping faraway from them. this is nobodies fault rather.

You're right. You can't even act white or black or whatever. And how is speaking properly being white anyway? Lots of white people don't speak proper English. I mean look at the hillbillies who couldn't speak properly to save their life.

Perhaps when Blacks say stop "acting White", maybe they're referring to something else other than "proper English"? Is it always about how we supposedly talk?

That is one of my pet peeves. One of my friends (who's black, no surprise) accused me of "acting white" just because I speak more proper and clearly. Why is that considered bad to some black people? It pisses me off so much.

I listen to public radio on a regular basis and black leaders are starting to (finally) address this question. They are finally saying that they shouldn't defend someone who's accused of a crime just because he's black. These people are bringing everyone else down & compromising their credibility.

I agree totally!!! When I was in high school my friends used to say I like "white sports" just because I perferred to swim and play tennis (this was b4 venus and serena), rather than play basketball and join the dance team. I like people as people and i think if more blacks would take themselves out of the box they confined themselves to, then maybe it would get better.

I get accused of acting white all the time. I married a white woman, and I have white kids. I guess it's because I'm white. What should I do??
