If you have been seizure free all this time, and you haven't been taking meds to control it, chances are you won't have any problems at all. Your best bet would be to go see your doc and talk to him about it. You can still carry a healthy baby to term, even if you require meds. You would just need to be careful of which ones you took and would need to take the lowest dose possible...but like I said, if you only have a history of childhood epilepsy, you should be fine.

i am an epileptic and most seizures that kids get they outgrow them, most people who have chronic epiepsy are diagnosed between the ages of 15-25. I was on seizure meds until i got pregnant and then stopped them because of the high risks involved to the baby. *knock on wood* i have never had a seizure during pregnancy yet and my oldest son is 11yrs old. I also have never heard of childhood epilepsy coming back into adulthood. Pregnancy hormones could bring them back but its highly unlikely.

It is possible. Hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy can cause seizures. But, often people that have epilepsy when they are younger grow out of it. If a problem does arise while pregnant, there are medicines that are safe to use to help manage seizures. More than 90% of babies born to women with epilepsy are healthy

A friend of my step-daughter has epilepsy and when she became pregnant she had to go to a high-risk hospital. She also had to take anti-seizure meds. I'm not sure how safe some of them are. Her daughter has some severe learning and behavioral problems. Her 2nd daughter she was not on meds for it and she has no problems at all. Talk to your doctor.

i think they say more that it returns when you are pregnant because you can not take the medication. if you are not on medications you maybe OK, i would talk to your doctor about any worries you have because they will be able to tell you more on if your at risk of it returning.
