I am really into the preservation of my photographs more so than the addition of adornments to make my page look good so normally I only scrap with acid free/lignan free paper and stickers. But I really like the look of the quilted paper layouts using a sewing machine and thread. But I am worried the thread will have acid in it. I have no idea how to find out if it does. Does anyone know?

Use nylon thread instead of cotton, and you should be fine. You can also use archival spray to be extra sure. Here is where I buy mine

use book binding thread, it is acid free (most art supply stores sell it in the book binding sectino) other than that, i'm not sure. the downside of a nylon thread is that it stretches, i don't know about it's archival quality, i just know that in bookbinding we never use it. have fun with your projects!
