Perhaps they have had such a traumatic life anything from earlier in time disturbs them.
I enjoy it for those nostalgic tummy tickles that bring a smile to my lips.
For goodness sakes we are not living looking backwards.
Granted most of us could not have lived as long as we have without suffering the battle of life with scars to prove it..
This a place to express ourselves. I for one have actually told way too much deep personal heart felt stuff on here. But the lure of the openess of all my friends and their own sharing opens a flood gate.
If we didn't share memories and ask ?'s about the old days I wither.
I hope those that dislike them will just skip them.
Being the only sibling left in my family I don't have anyone to say, Hey you remember that? Except here. So please keep it up, Yahoo Family!

I love trips down memory lane. And yes it is all about sharing. We seniors have some interesting things to share too. Even my 5 adult married children like to start talking around family get togethers about things they/we did back when and we all have the best fun, out of not so funny then, stories. LOL. Oh memories, how important in life. Choose to make them happy and keep bringing the questions out on this site.
We need that kind of mixture.
God bless you all.~~~~~ Jill~ Texas,USA

Don't know.but since I have been on this site, I have remembered so many things I had not thought about.Movies, music and all sorts of interesting things. It's nice to take a walk down memory lane, as long as you come back, and take a big interest in what is happening in the world today.

Some have such bad "memories" that they don't like to look back.
Several of my Viet Nam vet friends have lived through many things that they can associate with ... Just for instance music... The music that causes some of us to wax nostalgic because of the good memories it brings to our minds causes anger and aggression to surface in them because of the ugliness, violence and fear that the same music brings into their minds.
I use this as an example mainly because is extreme enough to be a black and white contrast and therefore easily understandable but there are others whose problem is much more subtle but brings on the same general type of reaction.
I think I've made this answer almost as clear as mud now, so I'll just post it and let you read it, scratch your head and say... Huh?

Probably because we pretty much lived the past and some people don't want to be reminded of it. My Dad said the past was interesting. Even after Grandpa lost all of his businesses in the Depression, he said Life is a Learning Experience, both Good and Bad, and everything Will Work Itself Out.

I like the memory lane questions. It's sharing our little part of history. Do you think some people have such unhappy memories that they avoid bringing up the past?

I agree. It is fun to remember things you did that maybe you may have forgotten. But some people did not have happy childhoods and want to forget the past. They should just skip these questions then go on to something else, and allow us that want to participate do so. Can't please all the people all the time. I like hearing about other peoples growing up, even though we all live in differents states or countries we are all a lot alike

"If one lives in the past, how does one leave a forwarding address."
Talking about the past is fun. Alot of times, epsecially among friends and relatives we tend to spice it up. All well and good. But just as likely some like to move forward. I like to look at the future and see how can I tweek to make it better. What is coming and how to prepare. The economy is changing. I don't want to be caught unprepared. Plus I mostly enjoy astronomy. Here at Y/A is a good section that ask nice questions.

I love memory lane questions especially ones about music because the music meant so much to us. We didn't have concerts or live venues at least not in Canada in the fifties or early sixties. Our records are what we listened to and our favourite DJ on the radio.
