I am IN LOVE with the art of acting. I will do anything and everything there is to do to succeed in this area of profession. I just want some tips on acting....what can I do to reallllly get into a character. My voice, for instance, my voice, what can I do to add character to it. Just send some stuff....No big long blahblahblah thing that I can never read. Or i will mark you as spam. I am 14 years old, and I know this si want I want, and I WILL achieve it. So don't tell me that 95% of the people who into acing are not successful, I know that....but I will be. I've got my heart set. :)

Ok, look, when I said don't send long things.. I practically meant don't send me those spam things. Where you just go to a website and copy the whole thing. It would take me like 2 hours or so to read that. I have also already read ALOOOOOT of stuff on acting, I meant just some tips from you. Ohh and to THEATRE DOC, I didn't mean singing voice....I meant my character's voice. So yeah :)

I'm 14 too and just finished a play last week called Wonderland: Alice Returns, a part two of Alice in Wonderland. I played Loof (which was difficult as he's a guy, and I'm a girl) and he was this crazy character who was very over the top, sarcastic, and pure crazy. What I would do is say my first line in my head (which was actually singing "For I'm a jolly good fellow") and I'd delve into the life of my character. (I'm a bit method, I'd say.) Our director actually had us write a bit of a history of our character in first person, so I wrote as Loof and about his history. That also helps you to know the character. Experiment with different voices for the character, try different attitudes, and have fun with it. I admire your steady eye on your goal. Reminds me of myself.

Sounds like you will do anything but read a lot. There is not much anyone can send you to improve your voice. Take singing lessons to strengthen it, get involved in speech events at school and do interpretation, be in all the school plays. Your story is not unique, we hear it several times a day. Now if you really want to be an actor. Then 1. get your parents' to support your being an actor. 2. do the school stuff, 3. get a mentor. 4. take acting classes 5. do selective reading. 6. be in lots more plays, 7.get your resume and head shot 8 try to get an agent.

I am a retired actor who mentors for free.

Theatre Doc has given you good advice. I am concerned that you do not want to hear detailed advice but seem to be looking for shortcuts. It will never work that way.

Aside from acting you have to develop your instrument, which is yourself. You need exposure and appreciation of as much culture, art, history etc. as you can get. A theatre artist gives what they have, they can't give what they haven't got.

Read out loud whenever you can. Your voice is your primary tool.

Like theatre Doc and drama guy have stated you need to get involved in as many things as possible. If there are other theatre groups in your town/ city audition for them. Such as a youth group or a civic group. To better you acting work with many directors, coaches or teachers. Take acting classes and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

im 14 too and ive been acting since i was 5.. when you're reasing lindes for a script or whatever, don't read it as if you were just reading it like a normal thing... read it as if you were having a conversation..put feeling into it. when you're on stage... never brake character. you ddont want people to know that its really you thats on stage. also when you're acting in a play you want to over exagerate whatever you do... it may feel wewird to you but its right...
