A) General Lee died after the war was over. His surrender at Appomattox ended the war.

C) Slaves could not vote until after the war, and not regularly until the civil right movement of the 1960s

D) The south had no say in who the U.S. President was since they rebelled and tried to form a new nation (the Confederacy).

The correct answer is B. The most important victory was when General Sherman captured Atlanta. This victory helped to propel Lincoln to his second term.

Greg got it all correct, except the fact that when Lee surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia at Appomatox Courthouse, VA, he only controlled about a third of the Confederate armies at the time. The war continued until the surrender of the Army of Tennessee in North Carolina a few weeks later, and then after that the surrender of the Trans-Mississippi units (west of the River).
