The answer is A. Lee never marched south to Atlanta, that was the Confederate Army of Tennessee. Maryland did not agree to join the Confederacy and remained officially "nuetral" (the state was much divided in thought throughout the war. Lincoln was assasinated a few days after Lee's surrender at Appomattox.
