Only sons could be heirs to the thrown. Without a son, his line of ancestory would end.

Because boys can carry on the last name keeping the royalty in the family by taking over the throne. A girl would have to marry outside the family causing the guys she chooses to marry family to take over Henrys throne and he didnt want that!!
