We both call ours "the girls" -- three female cats. When they were younger, and got into scraps, I'd scold and say, "Ladies!" and hubby would say, "They're not ladies right now."

I know Roxy recently referred to hers as "the Hairy ones," but I think Tealc666 started it.

I don't have any right now, but when I had my little Isis (dog) I called her my little girl or my kid. She is waiting for me at the rainbow bridge so we can cross together. She is happy, healthy again, and having a ball playing with the other pets waiting for their best friends there. And why are my eyes tearing up, sentimental old fool!

My dog's name is Katie or Kate. I refer to her as my "girl" She is a wonderfully well-behaved and fiercely protective shepard/bull terrier mix who goes bye bye with me to certain places like the pet food store, bank and to get gasoline for the car. She's 71/2 years and is definitely a one man lady :)

No, it was actually my mum a long time ago, we have always had Old English Sheepdogs and she started calling them The Hairy Gang .When I was a child. They also get The Hairys, and when they are covered in mud and muck they get called a few other things too. lol.

There is Oliver the cat
Taz the mother cat
Marisol Marie my "baby" chihuahua
Pugly, a pug (like you couldn't figure that on out)
The Oscars, because the fish are oscars
The turtles have no name, since they only pay attention when I have food for them
AKA the "gang"

When I had a dog and a cat, I just called them Dog or Cat. They answered to those names all the time. Although there were times that I called them Dumb Dog or Dumb Cat.

I don't have a pet at present, had to ,leave him in SA. But we always had mad ,zany dogs who we loved dearly. Called them "the dogs", but not in a derogatory way. Meaning OUR dogs. Like; " look what they are up to now." One instance, when my late mother died, we kept her car, for when the girls could drive, and sometimes when people needed a car, and theirs was being fixed, we would loan them the extra car.
Our dogs, loved to sit on the roof, and hood of the car and sun themselves. One of my friend's sons. (about 17 years old at the time), said you know you ........, are a strange family, you even have a jungle gym for your dogs!

Foxy is the kid around here since the two legged ones left the nest. She's pretty much gotten us trained to various schedules and her needs. She "talks" to others on her own, so we really don't have occasion to refer to her.

I refer to mine as "the freeloaders." Actually, that's probably not fair to the cat, but it sure applies to the dogs! I often refer to the cat as "the boss."

She is one of the girls also. One of my daughters actually. The only with 4 legs. But mostly Zoey, her name. I actually have a huge out doors dog but she is not a daughter. She is the red headed step child. JK
