I have room in the nursery, I just can't decide if it is worth it to spend the money on a rocker. I am not sure if I will need it with my baby. How often do you all use the one's that you have or if you do not have one - do you wish you would have bought one? Thanks

A rocker in the nursery is a God send. When the baby is crying in the night you can rock him right in the nursery and when he falls back to sleep you don't take the chance of waking him on the trip back to the nursery or falling asleep with him in your bed. Great for reading to toddlers at bedtime for years to come.

I loved my rocker. I had some pelvic injury with the birth of my third child and spent many a night in that rocker. My baby snuggled right into me and we both slept until feeding time.

You need a sturdy one. The first one I had ended up not being sturdy enough and I decided on a glider. When I bought it, I made sure I had enough room to hold the first two in my arms and rock (I brought them into the store with me and tried it out).

This might help you decide if you will need one or not. Do you move even though you are sitting or standing "still"? If you do, you will be more comfortable holding your baby in a rocker. Don't forget how long you are carrying that little baby inside you and they get used to the motion, even when they are lying "still". I walked and held my babies too, but the rocker was always a welcomed relief.

I didn't buy/use a rocker with my first due to little space. But while in the hospital with my second, I used their's and loved it! I personally would not have spent the money on it, but my mother-in-law saw how much I enjoyed it and bought one for me saying it was both my birthday present, and my newborn son's birthday present(I think she had this reasond so I wouldn't feel bad for receiving an expensive gift after all she does for us). I am very glad we have it! We are breastfeeding and after I moved him into his own brib and room, it was an awesome life saver on those night he wasn't sleeping well! I nursed him while rocking and was able to lull myself to asleep (I sit in just a way that if he slid out of my arms, which he has yet to do, he would be caught by my legs). It soothes him just right and now that he's older and nurses less often, both of my kids love playing in it!

I never used a rocker but my Pilate's ball became the best seat in the house. I used the ball for sitting during my last trimester to relieve sciatica and after the baby was born to gently bounce for burping. My kids are older now but the love the huge ball as a chair and just over all fun thing - added bonus they have excellent posture. :)
Good Luck!

I have a glider-style rocker and I still rock my 3 1/2 year old when she wants to be rocked. It was great for middle-of-the-night feedings, reading time, etc. My daughter falls asleep in her bed, except a few times when she dozed off while nursing. I'd definitely get one.

Sometimes I wish I had one with my daughter since I breastfed her and it was nice when I was at my mom's (she already had one).. So I would say if you are breastfeeding its a nice thing to have, or nice to have when rocking them to sleep..It gets tiring walking around the room rocking them. And of course if you dont want to have as much expense as a brand new one, look in your local newspaper for second hand ones (wood, with cushions are very nice and durable) the glider rockers are really nice. Second hand thrift stores and furniture stores, good will (ya never know... they dont have just clothes there!) My answer to the actual question is YES I wish I would have gotten one for my own place.. it was really nice when I was at my mother's with the baby :)

I have 2 kiddos and have never once used a rocker. It was one thing that I always wanted but never got. LOL Neither the kids or I are any worse for it.

I have one and have never used it. Most nursing rockers don't have arms and I needed a lot of support when breastfeeding in the beginning.

Later we just nursed wherever we were.

Just me - but I have three children, and never used a rocker. I was afraid of them getting too used it and then not being able to fall asleep without being rocked. Something I have seen alot of my friends go through.

no i dont have n not actually planning to buy one either. i would suggest a rocking carry cot would be more efficient as u can use it anywhere n its designed in such a way kids feel really comfortable n cozy in them n it doesn't take much space light in weight easy to carry around anywhere to the airport, picnic etc
m telling you this because i have got n its really good to
