I am confused about this Macro thing. So if I could get an example or two of when or how this would be used, that might help me understand. Thanks.

When you have an operation that involves several key strokes that you do over and over.

I had this spreadsheet, and it involved "projects at work", "phone calls to make", and "projects at home." So there were about 4 columns for each catagory of things to do. I would add projects, and then I had this macro that would sort all the sets of items. To do it by hand involved a lot of selecting an area, then sorting it, then selecting another area, then sorting, then selecting, then sorting. I just made a macro by recording the key strokes once and running it when ever I needed it run.

This particular macro was within Excel, but the same idea applies.
