Has Christmas pretty much been turned into an enormous scam, meant to pry money out of our pockets in an orgy of false generousity, merely to keep up appearances?

It is entirely up to the individual whether or not to succumb to the retailers Christmas wish. I'm curious what the 3 (or 4) wise men would think of today's gift giving; I'm pretty sure it wasn't their intent to start a billion dollar industry. It has become a real learning experience for my family in that I've become disabled & cannot work; last year we had a "Dollar Tree Christmas" and it looks like it will be the same this year. The kids have come to understand the Spirit of Christmas and not about who got the most toys.

I try desperately NOT to let Christmas become a humbug. I will admit that it is difficult to find the real meaning in something that's covered in blinking lights, blaring music, obnoxious electronics, and stuffed to the toe with want, want, want, spend, spend, spend, eat, eat, eat, gimme, gimme, gimme, "look at us-we have the best!!", all while wearing a luxurious fur coat, draped in diamond tennis bracelets, and driving a Lexus with a big red bow!!

No Christmas, that is the Christian Festival has not, However, It has been used by the Business World to make bigger profits from those who can least afford to spend. That has nothing to do with the real meaning of Christmas.

I don't think so....Christmas for me is a time to rejoice with my family and friends......we don't exchange presents anymore, we just get together and share memories and make new ones.
Christmas is what YOU and your FAMILY make it.......It is too easy to get caught up in all the hoopla......Change it up!
