"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

"We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.

"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

Shocking is all I can say. I saw this story too. Makes one wonder about those republican family values. What HAS happened to family values anyway. This is just another attack on the traditional family structure. Taking all of our children out of the public school system isn't a bad idea and could send the government a message loud and clear. Another example of Californication!
Oh great I get a thumbs down for standing up for dear old mom and dad. I bet you also had a mom and dad. Whats next teaching our children that reproduction is wrong too. Lol what kind of a mixed signal is that? Sorry kiddies you're here and we have to teach you but you "Shouldn't" be for all accounts and purposes. If this path continues pretty soon there won't be any kids to teach. What will the teachers have to say about it then. Let me get this straight, you can't touch your friend in the hallway but you will be entitled to go to the restroom together.

I read the bill too, never mentions the words 'mother' 'father' 'husband' or 'wife' or 'restroom' Whoever wrote the article you cited was on some pretty powerful hallucinogenics ......................................... Edit: I was a little flip, above. There is a profound difference between bias and discrimination against a group or just being factual in a textbook. The bill outlaws discrimination base on 'disability, sex, religion, etc.' Therefore, by your article's reasoning a textbook could never mention, sex, disability or religion. Your article would have us believe that a history book could never mention why the Pilgrims came to America, that Franklin Roosevelt was disabled, or that George Bush is a man and he is in fact married to a woman named Laura. The article you cite fails to distinguish between identification (basically factual: George and Laura Bush, husband and wife) and discrimination (anyone who is 'gay' should be ......). As a lawyer and having read the bill, I really don't think it will have the effect the article you cite claims, and if it did, the legislature and Schwarzenegger would immediately redraw the law. :)

I don't know if this is a good idea but in the 1960s when many schools were forcefully integrated, people like Karen England of the Capitol Resource Institute said things like "we are shocked and appalled, blah, blah, blah."

If parents are racist, homophobic, etc, then I would say that their values ARE irrelevant.

Basically time wasting. You know that he also signed legislation that passed significant debt to future generations of Californians. Bonds and such. Its just more of the same smoke and mirrors you get anytime these people talk.
I honestly think its a little odd the bathroom situation. I think there will be some incidents that cause a repeat look at this idea.

I think that Arnold is nothing more than part of the elite now. He is married to a Kennedy and has entered into a brainwashing sect.

I think it is about time that EVERYONE takes a serious look at the US Government and follows what the Constitution states to do when the Government has been overtaken by idiots who want to harm this nation. Take back our Government and re-institute our Constitution again.

Great! Finally, California is out of the Stone Age. Everyone (!) has a right to exist, including gey people. And if any motherf*ucker (!) has a problem with that, go back to the Stone Age where you belong.
