dracula was a name (bram stoker's closest spelling of the name). vlad tepes, his uncle, actually, was a "knight of the dragon". the peasants of that time saw the flaming dragon on his blazon as a devil, a "drac", "dracul". anyway, he used to impale thieves and turks, sometime just for fun, as they say, but that was not uncommon in that age. so people feared him and the legends began - he liked blood etc. remember, countess erzsébet báthory enjoyed her blood-baths a century later! anyway, it's not like anybody would try to read this until the end, but romanians kinda like vlad 'dracula' tepes, we see him as a great "voievod si domn" (lord), brave and just. there are countless 'good' legends about him too: thievery was practically extinct in his days, silver cups stood around wells deep in the forests and nobody dared to steal them, the greatest threat for europe was stopped on the right side of the danube etc. vampires are bullshit, even tho there still are stories of present "moroi" as well as banishing rituals for them nowadays.

Prince Vlad is a national hero in Romania,
just as George Washington is to the United States
Abraham Stoker wrote a
Gothic novel back in 1897 about a vampire.
He called the book, DRACULA,
because he had been doing research on folklore
around the world.
This is when he discovered,
Vlad the Impaler.
So he modeled his main character after Prince Vlad.
I'm sure that Stoker had no idea
that his book
would survive beyond his own century.

Dracula (Vlad Dracul) was not in anyway attached to Vampyres until Bram Stoker wrote the Story "Dracula" in 1897. Before that time, there were rituals too cleanse Slovakian villages of evil spirits. Vampyres were considered spirits not corporal beings. Only after stoker's book became popular did some people begin to believe that Vampyres were corporal beings and could create more vampires out of humans--and the spelling changed.

With virtually thousands of books and movies made or written for profit has the myth been shaped into mores and rules and thus become the pop success it is today.

Yes I know the story...and actually before Vlad Tepes (who was Vlad III) there was Vlad II who was nicknamed Vlad Dracul (which means "dragon") because of his association with some order of the same name. No doubt the two Vlads were merged into one to create this myth of Dracula - Yes Vlad Tepes was cruel (drove the stakes through his own people not just invaders) but really, I can think of many more monarchs/regimes who were just as bad if not worse.

Vlad III ruled Romania with an iron fist and was a very good tactician - if you look more closely at his reign, you'll see in fact that he did the country a world of good.

Yes I do know that the story of Count Dracula originated from Vlad "The Impaler" Tepes.
I don't believe everything is written about Dracula myself.

i might advise something by using Edgar Allan Poe, possibly "The Pit and the Pendulum" which in spite of the undeniable fact that purely a quick tale is particularly hectic. in case you spend somewhat time looking out approximately Edgar Allan Poe, then this is no longer surprising that his thoughts are undesirable - even his very own dying occurred in extraordinary circumstances. in case you desire something somewhat extra cutting-edge, i think of 1984 by using Orwell or Lord of he Flies by using Golden are frightening yet possibly no longer for the justifications you're searching for. For out and out terror, i assume Stephen King's this is fairly confusing to undergo and on the same time as an person, I nonetheless shiver whilst i think of of Pennywise. have relaxing !
