I've tried holding the menu and middle buttons and what not but it won't come on. It's currently charging but it's just a dead screen.

just leave it for awhile the same thing happened with my nano just wait till its done charging and then hold the menu and middle button down for ten seconds...dont worry about it

mine did the same thing earlier!
but I held the middle and menu for about 2x longer than they said and it worked!
and also turn the hold on then off then press the buttons!

do everything that other people have already said plus make sure the hold button is not on. A tad obvious but it happens.

Connect it to your computer [[if its not already]]
and leave it alone for a couple of hours, then check it and see if it works
Or you could hold the bottom button [[play & pause]] for a while [[about 7 sec.]]
see if that works

go to apple.com and talk to other ipod users
