My cousin had similar symptoms and she ended up having uterine and ovarian cysts. She should probably see another doctor and also ask to have an ultrasound done, maybe the doctor couldn't feel her cysts when she had an exam. It's really not normal to have a period for that long. Also if she's loosing a lot of tell her that she should take a multi vitamin supplement with iron in it so she doesn't become anemic.

She needs call her doctor. This happened to me once and it turned out that the medicine they gave me did help to rid me of the period, but once I stopped the medicine, it made it worse than before. This is a side effect of some medicines used to control periods unfortunately. It could be this, or it could be something else entirely. She won't know unless she calls the doctor and asks.

It happens to some people. She needs to go back to the doctor to check that it's nothing serious - what might happen is he could put her on the pill longer term to regulate her periods. It's important that she gets it sorted, she's losing more blood than she should.
