My step mom left my dad and said she did not want anything in her goodbye letter. Is that legally binding?

If you're 9in the US, then NO.
Any lawyer would argue that insufficient advice was offered before the letter was signed.
In the UK we believe that if you sign a contract you are deemed to know what you are doing.

That depends on the state you live in and the laws concerning marital abandonment. There is also the burden of proof - she could claim she didn't write the letter or was coerced into writing it then leaving. It is best to have your dad hire an arbitrator to get her to sign a legal release of property and waiver of support since only a impartial witness to the signature of these documents would be supported by the court.

Yeah i think so, because all he has to do it show that to the courts and they will identify that, that is her writing and therefore state that she stated in WRITING that she didnt want anything...
