I hit a stopped car at a red light going about 15-20. No one was injured and I was driving my girlfriends rental car. the rental airbag came out and was not in great shape and the other car had some bumper damage. How much trouble am I in from anyone who's been remotely in the same place?

I was charged once with a DUI but when they did a blood test I passed. But since they arrested me they charged me with ARR Alcohol Related Reckless. Meaning you had a beer or two but you werent drunk but we arrested you anyway so we need to charge you with something.

The reason im bringing this up is because I had to go to a class. Everybody else had a DUI. So I got to here all their stories. It will be different in every state. But everybody in that class was first time DUI's. Nobody got jail time, but all of them had community service. One hit another car and got 30 days in jail, but it was suspended if he was good for 1 year. If he got arrested again he had to go to jail, but he had cocaine on him as well. That charge was dropped if he plead guilty.

If its your first time Im sure you wont have jail time, you will probably be put on probation and be required not to drink alcohol for a year. You might have a license thats called not a drop. Meaning you cant drive if you have had 1 drink of alcohol. If a cop pulls you over they automatically check you. Everybody in my class had that license besides me.

This is Utah. I dont know your state.

Call a good Attorney. This was the most expensive night of your life. Im glad you didnt hurt anybody.

Good Luck.

Do not say a word to anyone. Get an attorney. I know it might cost something, but you will have to worry about that later. You will most likely save that money in fines or other costs.
Are your parents involved. If so let them read this message. Do NOT do that thing were you just say.....well we will just let the system take care of things. Sure you know you are going to face a punishment, and yes that is expected, but it is perfectly legal to seek counsel from someone who can advocate your position.

get a lawyer...pay him 1500 dollars or so...go to drunk driving class...they will reduce it, but will still show up on your record...so, if you get another one, it will still be considered your second..
