No you can't wear a pad in the water. It just doesn't work. Does your mom know the situation? If not, you need to tell her!

As far as tampons, get the smallest you can. I had much more luck with plastic applicators with a rounded end. You may want to get some lubricant to put on there if it doesn't want to go in easily. Lay on your back with your legs apart and TRY to relax your muscles. It takes practice, but you will eventually figure out the easiest way to get it in.

You CAN'T wear pads in the water. They will swell up like a diaper and then everyone will know that you have your period. Plus, since they will have absorbed all that water they won't be able to collect the blood, and then you will be bleeding in the pool (just as if you hadn't worn anything).

If you are going swimming you HAVE to wear tampons. There are no other options. You either wear tampons, or don't go in the pool. Water does NOT stop a period. It just washes away the blood.

Use slender tampons with PLASTIC applicators, these are really the best tampons for beginners.

Keep trying the tampons, and make sure that you RELAX. You are tense, and that is why it hurts. Also make sure that you put the tampon in at an angle towards your lower back, don't put it in straight up. If it hurts, just keep trying. It takes practice.

If you are having your period you should know the difference between a tampon and a pad. What you have is definitely a pad because Always doesn't make tampons. A pad is a rectangular piece of cotton that goes in your underwear. A tampon is a cylindrical piece of cotton that you put inside your vagina. You can't swim while wearing a pad, so if you want to swim you need to wear a tampon.

Tell your mum, she's been there!

You can't use pads in the water, and swimming without...just eww. I would get your mum to ring the coach and explain, and then buy yourself the smallest mini size of tampons you can find and practice several times for the rest of your period, so it's not a problem in the future. Once you get it right, it won't hurt and you won't even know it is there - it's like riding a bike, figure it out once and you'll wonder what the problem was.

Don't swim in a pad, you don't want it to fall out, that would be embarrassing. I suggest trying the tampons again. Get some with plastic applicators and the smallest size they have. You could even try putting some lubrication on it to help it go in easier. Relax while you're doing it, if you tense up it will hurt. Good luck!

You shouldn't use a pad because the stickiness on the back of the pad will wash off and it will come out. Try practicing with the tampon and use the smallest one like a lite. You can use a mirror and will help. Here's a website that will really help you.

you can't swim in pads... most people's periods stop in water... so it should not be a problem if you are not out of water for a long time... but chances are if the tampon is hurting once it is in then it is not in far enough... get out the instructions from the pack look at the diagram... and make sure you are putting it in far enough... maybe sit on the toilet so you can see what you are doing. Also if it hurts when your putting it in you are just pushing against the walls. stop pushing it up because its far enough up and it will adjust itself. but no you can't swim in pads, they will come off and be floating in the pool. If your too afraid... where a pad till you get in the water. then when you get out go put one back on...you period should stop in water.

Tampons or NO SWIMMING!

Your period DOES NOT STOP OR SLOW DOWN IN WATER!

You WILL bleed into the pool and contaminate it.

It only LOOKS like it stops or slows because it gets dispersed into the water.

You will have blood running down your leg when you get out of the water.

Pads WILL NOT work! It'll soak up pool water before even soaking up any of your flow!

Try and use the lightest tampon absorption level. They might be more comfortable. Otherwise just tell your mom you will go to practice but will be unable to swim. If she makes you, talk to your coach, I'm sure they will more understanding.

just wear a tampon. you cannot wear pads in the water, it will not work, and everyone will be able to see it. you have no choice but to wear a tampon or not go.
