It should come in five pieces.

mouthpiece (with ligature and cap)
barrel
upper joint
lower joint
bell

All clarinets come this way - it's normal. Usually, you learn how to put it together from your clarinet teacher. Putting the upper and lower joint together wrong can break one of the keys - be careful with that joint. You'll notice a protruding key there that needs to fit together.

For the other parts, you just grease the joint and put it together. It will only go together one way.

5 pieces is correct but you also need a reed to play. Personally i use a 3 1/2 gonzala even though im only in 7ht grade. I suggest to start out with a 2 rico and as you work you ombrechure go higher and higher. % is the max but different companies' reed's have different hardesses.
