Okay, so give a link to a song you think others may like. No MCR, FOB or anything that they play on mainstream radio. If it's gonna be a classic, let it be an obscure one (ie Pink Floyd's Cymbaline). Any genre of rock.

here's mine:
Porcupine Tree- The Start of Something Beautiful (it's a incomplete version, but none the less good)

What do you suggest?

Here is something that others should like, provided they haven't gone "soft" in their listening preferences.

i have lots, I had a big music discovery not too long ago. I researched a genre called "math rock" and got excellent results:

Battles- I enjoy their EPs more than their album Mirrored
Don Caballero- American Don
Hella- Hold Your Horse Is
Maps and Atlases- Tree, Swallows, Houses
Turing Machine- A New Machine For the Living

Other bands in various genres:
Gruvis Malt - Sound Soldiers, ..With the Spirit of a Traffic Jam
The Mercury Program- All the Suits Began To Fall off EP
Dead Meadow- Feathers

And then some relatively well known bands you probably have hear of that I have been liking as of late:
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead- Worlds Apart
The Dismemberment Plan- Emergency & I
Godspeed You! Black Emperor- Yanqui UXO
DJ Shadow- ..Endtroducing, The Private Press
Dredg- Leitmotif

sorry for the long list, maybe someone will find a new favorite band

i listed albums by bands, not songs

(My Baby Does) Good Sculptures by the Rezillos

This was my favorite song for a long time and it still tops my list very often, and this is an excellent live version on the Old Grey Whistle Test.

P.S. This is a good idea, I'll probably put a link on most recomendation questions from now on, good thinkin'.

Edit to agree whole heartedly with the guy who said the Smiths, Angry Samoans, Crass, and X. Crass has quite a few good songs but are far from my favorite, deserve a mention none-the-less. X is an excellent almost rockabilly punk band, and anyone who doesn't own a copy of the out of print Angry Samoans Unboxed Set ought to hunt it down.

I used to buy my smokes from the convenience store they owned before I quit. It's a damn shame they broke up, but they did form another band. Just some kick-*** rock 'n' roll.

Edit: Sound quality's not great but it still works. Fantastic idea Sarah, this should become part of the regular rotation.
