Honesty is the only way.
That way u can be certain the partner loves u no matter what. Otherwise the relationship is built on a lie. Never good. Then u will never know if it is true love and true love can overcome many, many difficulties and attitudes.

No, probably not - it's one of the more honest professions as far as I'm concerned and nothing to be ashamed of. However, realistically in the case of your friend, unless there is a good chance her boyfriend would find out (which doesn't seem likely), I would be inclined to keep it to myself, at least until the relationship became serious enough to warrant such a discussion (marriage, children etc.). Anyway, he might have a few secrets of his own!

you "admit" to things that you feel guilty about. Does she feel guilty about it? Don't really see why she should.
Nevertheless i would say 95% chance her bloke will have a problem with this information when he gets it. If he is mature and thoughtful, he will assimilate it eventually. But it will be a surprise, and maybe a shock.
She's probably going to have to tell him if it's a serious relationship. Sooner better than later.

my best friend for over 20 years was a prostitute and she was the nicest kindest person you would ever wish to meet. what she does is her own personal affair and if she wants to tell her boyfriend she will in her own good time. Do you feel that you need to tell anyone at all about what she did or even does as her life is her own not yours.

Her bf has a right to know. She could have picked up many diseases & if she has ever had any, it is her duty to tell her bfs before sleeping with them. She needs to go get tested for HIV/AIDS as well as other diseases to ensure that if she has something she doesn't pass it on to someone else. Being a prostitute is not something people except very well, but it's better for him to find out now, than later, because sometime the secret will catch up to her & he will find out. Start out being honest, she doesn't have to tell on the very first date, but she needs to tell in the beginning & before they have sex.

It is no one's business but hers. She doesn't have to tell any one any thing, if she doesn't want to. Prostitutes often make very good wives and mothers. They bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the "job". Assuming their old "job" didn't warp them.
