If you are in a mall the same hours as the other businesses. If you are stand alone do you want to be working alone at night?
When are you customers wanting to shop? In a college town weekdays only might work, working people like to shop nights and weekends. I would start with 10-6 7 days a week and see how it goes. You will need time for bookkeeping and other duties.

Tricky try Sat sun like 9-5 maybe one or 2 other 9-5 and then a 12-8 or 1-9 or 2 with two days off and see when ur highest traffic is and adjust from there. Depends on ur target customers retirees will be more weekday days working folks will be weekends and evenings college kids probably late evenings younger kids school holidays and afternoons

You could try 10 to 6 Monday through Saturday. Do you think people shop in that area of town in the evenings? Do you think people shop in that area on Sundays? What hours do the other bookstores in your area do?
