Wheels would help. They also make these little round pads made of plastic that slide on carpet really well. Just lift one corner at a time put one of these sliding disks under each corner and it moves very well. If you want to carry it down the stairs or out of a house. Take the drawers out and move each section without removing the clothes.

They sell these coaster like things to put under the furniture legs that are supposed to reduce friction with the floor.
