I have just cut my acryllic nails down slightly as there were getting a bit long and I cant afford infills just yet and they look apart from a bit long. Just wanted to check its ok to do it

Just to add I used the clippers specifically designed for cutting them I just wondered if It was ok to do it wonce the acrylic was on as at the salon they cut them down before hand. But I take it from the replies it was all ok and no different really from lots of filing. Silly me

Not only should you go to a professional to have this done, but you should NEVER EVER attempt to play with acrylic & bonding solution or glue if you havent been trained! Im a nail tech & doing my own nails is still hard for me, let alone you , who has no training or practice what so ever. You can really do damage to your nails & let's not forget that these are chemicals!!! Save your self the hassel of your nails looking like crap after you've attempted to do them - see a nail tech!

Absolutely! If you're afraid of doing it again in the future try a really strong nail file when you have some time for some serious filing.

Yes of course it is. They do it when you go for infills so why not. I am sure you have filed them nicely and it will give you a bit more mileage!

Yup you should still be able to get refills later on, as long as you didn't completely ruin the nail by cutting it.

It's fine, as long as you didn't break the rest of the nail.
But usually filing is better.

I cut mine all the time, then I file them to keep them from being too sharp...there is nothing wrong with that.

i wouldn't recommend it as you could split the acrylic, but you could file them down.
