Hi there. I need some honest opinions please. I am 7 months pregnant, and we are expecting a baby boy. All my life I've loved the name Ichabod. Yes, I know about "ichabod crane" but that doesn't matter to me! That name sounds to cooool... But my husband won't hear of it! He says if I name my son Ichabod he won't sign the birth certificate!

So I put in a list of names he could choose from. I am trying to be reasonable. I think Wilbur is nice, or Orville (yes, in honor of flight) or maybe Ned or Beauford. Also Humphrey or Petunius.

Well, don't you think he's being unreasonable? He just REFUSES to choose any of these! He wants some awful generic name like Michael or Brandon. UGH!

Can you please talk some sense to him?? He'll be reading the replies tonight. Thanks!

Sorry..but I agree with him. Think about the boy growing up with those names. Kids can be cruel with teasing..and names like you want will follow him around forever.

It is however, your decision, but one you need to make WITH your husband.

Ichabod is a bit much and Michael is to simple why not compromise on the spellin or a name in between example of spelling Mykl or example of rare but not crazy- Jhonny--Good luck and i hope u have a most healthy baby boy

Your husband's just scared you're giving his son a name he'll get beat up in the school yard for. I know there's no accounting for taste but yours is a bit on the geeky old fashioned side, except maybe for Ned which is a quite generic. Maybe you should compromise and give him a name you like and a middle name your husband likes that the child could also use should he not agree with your choice later on in life.

Have your husband chose the first name and you choose the middle name.

Name him Michael Ichabod or Brandon Ichabod.

Maybe use Ichabod as a middle name if you like different names how about Mathias or Vaiden, or Tanner, or Bridger, Legend, Canyon, Kove, Delbert, Glenn, Ryder, Ryland, Gunnar? You could pick any of those names and one of your favorites to use as a middle name maybe Kayson? Hope this helps or how about Tristen??

I'm sorry but I agree with your husband! I like the name Beauford, but I'm not keen on the others. How about one of you chooses the first name and the other chooses the second name!

Good luck!

Which country do you live in , because American kids might pick on him for such names. Though I do like Ichabod.

I'm sorry to say that I don't agree with the names you chose, but go to get a baby book and find something you two both agree upon, I can guarantee that your son will be very unhappy in the years to come.
