If it is a widescreen it is definitely not 1024 by 768.

Normally it is the highest resolution you can select in the Display properties, but make sure you do not go over the limit as you will end up with a blank screen and no easy way to go back.

The user guide will have the resolution in the specifications.

17" widescreens are1280 by 720, or 1440 by 900
19" 1440 by 900
20" - 22" 1650 by 1080
24" 1902 by 1200

You are talking about resolution or the actual size? If you want actual size, you can take a tape measure. :)

For resolution, assuming you are using Windows, you can right click the desktop, click Properties, and click the Settings tab. From there, it will tell you the screen resolution. If yours is a widescreen, odds are its not 1024x768. Probably more like 1440x900.
