I could not understand it also, that why should we fear GOD? when there is love there is no fear. We are scared of those things which do not win our faith. I think when the reelation is based on faith then fear makes no sense. I still find GOD as a friend, and we dont fear friends.
Yes, but some fear GOD when their actions go against GOD. And a believer knows, none can get away with what is done wrong, while standing in the court of God..

We don't realize how subtle sin is, that is why we forget the need to fear God. I think I fear God, I don't want to die, and when we read the Bible we find that God did strike people down for the smallest of things, also God is not harsh with sinners so much, he is harder on his children, relative to the sin. I should go into more detail but I don't have time at the moment. One example of a King not fearing God is in Jeremiah 37, and 38, Very interesting story. God killed a man for trying to catch the ark from falling, the man thought he was doing the right thing. God killed a man for spilling his seed; and so on. I fear God.
But I also love the Bible, and I study it all the time.
My philosophy: LOVE the Bible and FEAR God.

God, the Father, is your friend, your saviour, the only one you can always trust, always count on, he would never harm you, no need to fear him, even if you do wrong. He is a forgiving God. Think about people who love you, or people you love, you know you want them to be happy, healthy, this is what God wants for you x a bazzillion. Ask him, he will answer you, just be quite and listen, you'll know !!!!!

Fear of God means a reverend fear, not the lower kind of fear we have as in fearing ghosts or fearing the dark.

like fearing ghosts or old tales of hauntings and bad omens that are nothing but everyday happenings.... i don't beleive in god. the only thing i fear is bugs. lol. but if ppl feared him, well, wouldn't it take away from what religion is supose to teach? i mean, isn't he supose to love you? why would you fear someone who "loves" you? Like a little child who's abused maybe, then yeah, i would and do, but i don't. But that's cause i don't beleive in him. i think if you do, then yeah, sure, be fearful. he's done a lot of bad things to humanity, now has he not? tell me he hasn't. Be fearful of his raphtors and rage, pray to him everyday and be a good person that hates others because they have different beleifs and views on who they are. they don't like who their supose to or love someone above, hate them all and go to heaven to spend enterniety with the one you fear that made you. that make A LOT of sense....
have fun. ^_^

only if you believe he created you to hurt you.. but if you love god and you know he loves you back you shouldn't fear him, not fearing him doesn't mean that you dont know what he is capable of it just means that you know he has no reason to strike you down or send you to hell..

You know in your heart how you feel.
Hold to your own feeling about this.
To listen to others is to weaken our own beliefs.
You know what you know.
It may be right for "her", and that is fine.
Each to their own,
Believe in what feels right for you.
I personally feel, to be in awe of the Glory of God.
I think it has been said before by someone, that "fear" could read as "awe", which is not fear.
I always found at a stage in my life, when I had people telling me what to think, that I would always find myself, learning to differentiate, from what was mine, and what was from someone else, until I learned that what "came" to me was "my way, my answers, my understanding" uncomplicated from "well meaning other people"
Until one day, I realised that by listening to "my voice" I had found my way through to my "intuitive knowing", and let all else fall away.
I had my connection to all that is, tempered in the crucible of the law of correspondences.
