I've been to wikipedia, but it doesn't say anything about the manufactoring of it. I've googled it, typing in every way I can think of to get it answered, but I can't find anything except it being found naturally in some edible fruits and green and black tea. If you know where it is found in nature besides those, that would be awesome too....

Free-radical chlorination of toluene to benzyl chloride, followed by reaction with sodium or potassium carbonate solution.

C6H6-CH3 + Cl2 ===> C6H5-CH2Cl

C6H5-CH2Cl + Na2CO3(aq) ===> C6H5-CH2OH

Also found in jasmine, hyacinth, and ylang-ylang oils (perfumery)

Commercially Benzyl alcohol is produced by the reaction of Benzyl chloride by alkaline ( soda ash ) hydrolysis.
Also it is prepared by the hydrolysis of benzyl chloride using sodium hydroxide:

C6H5CH2Cl + NaOH → C6H5CH2OH + NaCl

It can also be prepared via a Grignard reaction by reacting phenylmagnesium bromide (C6H5MgBr) with formaldehyde, followed by acidification. Like most alcohols, it reacts with carboxylic acids to form esters

it relatively is TO undemanding u can upload sulphonic acid to benzene and then upload aqueous sodium hydroxide at extreme temperature and then upload hydrochloric acid then you definately gets benzyl acohol
