I'm very confused about math...Algebra actually...
Lets say you have 3 consecutive numbers, and the sum of them is 21...
You would do...
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 21
3x +3 = 21
3x = 18
x = 6
But if you have 3 consecutive odd numbers, you would do x + x + 2 + x + 4...
WHY?!?! If you have 1 as x, then you'll get 1, 3, 5 for the numbers, and it would make sense... But if you have 2, 4, 6, it wouldn't make sense!!!
So basically... I want to know...
1) What's the reasoning behind the 3 consecutive odd numbers thing... Can someone explain how you make the equation?
2) Did I even get the odd numbers equation right?
3) What's the equation for 3 consecutive even numbers?
4) What's the reasoning behind the 3 consecutive even numbers thing? EXPLAIN!!!
THANK YOU!!!
And please don't just repeat what I said... I'm looking for explanations!
